Keto diets, Low-carbohydrate, and high-protein diets are popular in the realm of weight-loss diets. That group includes the Atkins, South Beach, and Paleo diets. They are also known as “keto” or “ketogenic” diets.

A genuine ketogenic diet, however, is distinct. In contrast to other low-carb diets that emphasize protein, a ketogenic diet emphasizes fat, which can make up as much as 90% of daily calories. Additionally, it is not a diet that should be used as a test.

Your body will be compelled to use a new kind of fuel because of the diet. The keto diet uses ketone bodies as fuel rather than the sugar (glucose) that comes from carbohydrates (including grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits). Ketone bodies are a type of fuel that the liver creates from stored fat.
