Time is flying! Seems like just yesterday we escaped the dumpster fire of 2022, but now it’s July 1st…so, fire up that grill, crack open a spiked seltzer (if that’s your thing), and get your best patriotic Old Navy gear on!

First up: homemade strawberry shortcakes. Layered with fluffy vanilla cake, fresh strawberries, and sweetened whipped cream. My mom has made these on summer nights for as long as I can remember. With sponge cake as the base—for as long as I can remember. But this year I decided to try something new: homemade angel food cake.
